Background: I was born into a musical and artistic family and have embraced both like crazy. I took up piano lessons at age 7, joined choir in Junior High and started making music on my yamaha keyboard inbetween writiing little songs and experimenting with loops. In high school I sang lead for a couple garage bands a la alternative rock and after graduating I went solo and started dabbling more into the electronic genres. I started getting booked, putting together shows with touring and local artists and was gaining some marketing and design experience promoting and designing posters and flyers. In the meantime, I worked on my Associates Degree in Graphic Design and graduated in 2004. While in school, I became interested in website design but didn't have the time to work any more classes into my schedule so I took out a lot of books at the library and taught myself the inner workings of web standards, CSS, HTML, JavaScript and even a little Flash. I have been designing websites like mad ever since. I also enjoy writing and have done a bit of copywriting for ads and press releases. I am also very keen on internet marketing and blogging. My professional experience began with an internship during school at an assisted living company designing ads, collateral, billboards and brochures. After a couple years there I freelanced for an ad agency doing some layout and eventually took a job with a stock photography comany PunchStock / Getty Images. I worked with their content management system creating galleries, designing newsletters, brochures and promotional graphics for their websites. Around that time I had began picking up alot of freelance work including the concert posters, invitations, logos and websites for some small businesses. Eventually I made the decision to leave the daily 9-5 grind when I realized how much I loved the variety of work and clients that came with freelancing. I also wanted to spend more time at home with my own little budding artist...my daughter :) Overall, Stellar has brought me nothing but happiness because I am able to do what I love and love what I do! |
